Triple D Technologies Inc. was established in 2005 by its original founder and president Darrell Kosakewich. The idea for the Freeze Frac process came during 15 years of research in various oilpatch roles. While he was investigating new ways to settle the tailings ponds created by oilsands mining operations, it occurred to him that discharging an electrically charged emulsion would settle out and release the entrained water and oil. The first time he froze a coal sample and it shattered into pieces, he thought “Well, there’s your fracture mechanism.” Now, the rest is history, from prototype development to field trials to market.
Triple D has formed an alliance with Calgary-based companies Technicoil Corporation and Petrojet Canada Inc. to bring this process to market. Technicoil will provide the delivery system, while Petrojet will provide downhole services.
